New baby products are constantly coming out and I can’t help but get baby-gear envy! With my second, we didn’t get many new baby products – except a double stroller and “boy” clothes (after he was born, since we didn’t know the sex before). We had everything else we needed from his sister who was born 20 months before. But by the time baby #3 was born, we had given away some things when we moved 1,000 miles away. I also couldn’t resist some of the newer products. Here is a list of my favorite new baby items that I got for my third baby.
Portable Sound Machine ∙∙∙ We LOVE this one. It is small, and easily fits in a purse or diaper bag. You can plug it in, or play it all night on a single charge. There is even a lock to prevent an older sibling from coming and changing the sound or volume.
Silicone Breast “Pump” ∙∙∙ If you are breastfeeding, this is a great way to build a stash without hooking up to wires. Just suction this to one breast while you feed on the other. Not only will that leaking milk not go to waste, but the suction will pull out a little more. It’s basically a milk saver, but with suction. You can get the basic one (that usually runs about $13) without a lid or stand, but if you have an older kid running around, I recommend the one with the stand and lid.
On that note, I’m also loving the Spectra pump.
Lounger ∙∙∙ We used this all the time the first few months. With two older kids competing for my attention, I needed more places to safely put the baby. It’s a portable pillow that cradles your baby at a slight recline. The recline is especially helpful if your baby has any issues with reflux. Bonus: it’s affordable and machine washable! Side note: I liked having this in addition to my favorite bouncer.
Lovevery Play Gym ∙∙∙ This baby play mat is unlike most baby gear. It is beautiful! It is functional, filled with developmentally appropriate activities, made with safe materials, and looks great. I am obsessed!
Sock Monitor ∙∙∙ This may only be useful for the slightly paranoid mother, like me. I definitely sleep better knowing I will be alerted if my baby’s oxygen or heart rate drops. But it is definitely not an essential item.
Silicone Bottles ∙∙∙ I love these bottles! I’ve moved away from using plastic for anything that my kids eat or drink from. Glass isn’t always the most practical. These bottles are silicone! They won’t break, and they don’t have the harmful chemicals found in plastic.
Baby Carrier ∙∙∙ With three little kids, it’s essential that I can wear one of them if I ever want to leave the house. Ergo has the very best baby carriers! They are designed to carry your baby in multiple ergonomic positions (many carriers put the baby’s hips in a bad position) while distributing the weight so you don’t have too much pressure on your back or shoulders. I had the original with my first baby, but this time I was able to use a newer and better model. You do not need an infant insert (for babies over 7 pounds) with this version.
Ride Along Board ∙∙∙ This turned our double stroller into a triple!
