As a mom of three, I’ve tried and tested many baby products, and I’ve compiled a list of my favorite items. For a new mom, it is pretty great when you can get everything you need in one place. This is why I recommend registering at Amazon. There is no sample Amazon baby registry that would be perfectly suitable for every person. Below is a list of items that together would form a pretty ideal baby registry for the majority of people. You certainly don’t need every single item here. There are many other products that would be helpful as well. This is just a great starting point! To get more specific suggestions and comments to help you decide what is best for you, click on the directed links under the specific categories, or go to my Baby Stuff homepage.
This is a good registry for your first baby. If it is your second or third (or fourth, or fifth…), I’d obviously suggest different things. And yes, you can create a registry for a child when it isn’t your first! I created one with my second and third but didn’t even share the registry info with people. It was created for the sole purpose of organizing my needs/wants and using the completion discount to get things we needed/wanted. A registry is a great place to organize your thoughts on what products you want to buy. When your baby comes, you can get a discount on the remaining items!
Everything below, you can find on Amazon. The Amazon Baby Registry offers a 10% completion discount. If you join Amazon Family, that discount jumps to 15% and you can get 20% off diaper subscriptions.

For more suggestions and comments, read more on these topics: Car Seats • Strollers • Carriers
Infant Car Seat • Stroller • Soft-Structured Carrier • Wrap Carrier •
On The Go • Accessories
Car Seat / Nursing Cover • Stroller Fan • Stroller Gloves • Stroller Footmuff • Car Seat Travel Backpack
The Car Seat Cover is really a multifunctional item… use this to cover a car seat, shopping cart, high chair, or as a nursing cover. If you will go on walks in the heat, this Stroller Fan is a must! And if you will walk when it’s cold, these Stroller Gloves and Stroller Footmuff will be key!
Car seat travel backpack • Traveling with a car seat? You will LOVE being able to get through the airport with it on your back in this Car Seat Travel Backpack. If your baby will be a lap child on the airplane, put your car seat in a padded travel bag and gate check it, to decrease the chance of damage to the seat when being handled at the airport. Added bonus: there will be room in the backpack to fill with diapers, coats, etc… and you can check it for free because it is carrying a car seat!!! (side note: I believe in the importance of informed decisions with EVERYTHING baby/kid related… so, read this article just so you know the safety risks.) I can’t say which is best because I don’t like to give an opinion if I’ve only tried one, here are three options (all have 4.5 stars and run around $40): J.L. Childress • YOREPEK • Zohzo
Contain & Entertain
You will love having places to safely put your baby down throughout the day. See other loved options for bouncers/swings/playmats and read about when to use them here: Contain & Entertain. This Bouncer (and Toy Bar) are among my favorite baby items. This swing is a modern-looking space-saving place to set your baby. Eventually, your baby will want to sit up and play with this… this Activity Center keeps them safely contained while they play.
The BEST Play Mat is the best new item I got with baby #3. The Wooden Sensory Balls are simple wooden, non-toxic, sensory toys that your baby will love when they are around 6 months old. This Playard will be nice to have if your house is multi-leveled since it will add another changing table.
Bouncer • Toy Bar • Swing • Activity Center • Play Mat • Wooden Sensory Balls • Playard
There are so many well-loved toys and books out there. But these are a few of my very favorites.
rolling toy • silicone teethers • oball • links • rainbow stacker

Sleep & Lounge
You won’t find a crib on this sample registry, because that is something you have to pick out for yourself! If you want to read more about well-loved cribs, crib mattresses, and other spots for your baby to sleep, click here: Baby Sleep Spots. For more details and suggestions for items to accompany your baby when they sleep, click here: Baby Sleep Stuff.
Newborn Sleep Spot | Sound Machine / Night Light | Video Monitor | Heart/Oxygen Monitor | Portable Sound Machine |
You’ll want a variety of swaddles and sleep sacks. Your baby’s needs will change over time, and they may end up having specific preferences. The ones pictured here are my all-time favorites, and super popular among moms as well.
Vibrating Soother | Pom Pom Blanket | Soft Swaddle Blankets | Newborn Lounger | Sensory Lounger |
Diapering
To read more about your options for everything else diaper related, check out: Diapering Essentials. Diaper bags don’t have to look like diaper bags… check out these modern and stylish diaper bags.
The right diapers and wipes for you may depend on your personal preferences and your specific baby. | If you choose a wipeable changing pad, you won’t need these liners. Otherwise, they are a must-have! |
Bathtime
To learn about more infant bath options, as well as suggested bathtime accessories, click here: Baby Bath Stuff. If you want to see the items below, click on their images. This Infant Tub is very popular and makes bathing your newborn way easier than in the bathtub. Once baths move to the tub, you’ll want a Spout Cover to protect your baby’s head. The Foam Alphabet and Stacking Cups have been my favorite bath toys for all three of my kids. A Bath Toy Storage is better than constantly having bath toys everywhere.
Feeding
I prefer silicone and glass bottles, but that doesn’t mean you will. Also, not all babies take all bottles. Read my Baby Bottle Buying Guide for more info.
These are my favorite bibs. They are easy to clean, roll up well for storage, and have a pocket to catch food.
Silicone Bottles | Glass Bottles | Bottle Drying Rack | Bottle Brush | Bibs | First Cup |
I highly recommend following Feeding Littles on Instagram for more tips about feeding your littles!
Breastfeeding (if you plan to)
There are a lot more breastfeeding essentials that you may or may not want to add to your registry. If you are looking for a creative gift for a mom-to-be that plans to breastfeed, consider building her a breastfeeding basket. And definitely get THIS! It didn’t exist until my third and I wish I had it for all.
